The Cedar Foundation Tanzania partners with communities to improve health and education and to promote equality and life prospects. We embrace collaboration and believe that the community should be empowered from its core with a holistic approach to bring about sustainable change. The Friends of the Cedar Foundation Tanzania aims to promote awareness and raise funds to support the foundation's projects in 4 key areas: Healthcare, Education, Empowerment of Women and People with Disabilities, and Training and Entrepreneurialism. We are working with Kamanga village on the shores of Lake Victoria in Northern Tanzania. Based on a survey we commissioned of Kamanga residents, we learned that they have no access to healthcare, a lack of clean water, poor sanitation leading to disease, low literacy and education levels, high number of teenage pregnancies, and severely limited entrepreneurial opportunities for people with disabilities.By far their biggest concern was lack of healthcare access. Therefore, our priority is to build a Medical Dispensary and Health Centre in Kamanga, in partnership with the local government, the Sengerema District Council. This Medical Centre will serve a population of about 30,000 people in Kamanga and neighbouring villages in the Nyamatongo ward.
