Full Circle Schooling is a non-profit offering a very unique school-program called Explorers which currently serves students ages 5-8 and will soon serve an even larger age-range!We pose the question, "What if school was more like an adventure?" Explorers answers that question with, "It can be, and it is for us!" The Explorers program is 100% mobile. No, not an app on your phone, we are actually mobile in the physical sense: always on the go, exploring our community, out and about in the real world!With clipboards in hand, Explorer students board a 12-seater van and venture to many places where the community becomes their classroom. Why limit students to one teacher when they can learn from many experts who teach from real life experience? Our curriculum is student-led and intuitive. We provide parents with a monthly calendar with themes and activities, but the students and their facilitator are ultimately the ones who choose their own learning opportunities.The Explorer program is:-authentic -interest-led-community driven-developmentally appropriate-exciting-relevant to today's world-challenging-focused on socio-emotional developmentSome would describe the Explorer program curriculum as 'field trips every day'. However, these students are learners and teachers in their own right, carving out an educational path custom tailored to who they are as individuals. With a structure that allows them to re-visit over and over again all of the meaningful and excited places that they have explored, the child's understanding of their world becomes richer and deeper in a continuous manner.Children are strong, children are brave, children are capable. They come with a curriculum built inside of them already; all they need to have in order to thrive is a resourceful environment and enough autonomy! What we are doing as facilitators of their Explorer program journey is coming full circle with who we are. As we do that, all falls into place. Yes, even math!
