Gaia-E is developing a patented Airborne Wind Energy (AWE) technology that requires only 10% of the material compared to traditional wind turbines; which translates in lower costs and simpler installations offshore. The technology is also noise-free and does not represent a threat to birds. We are four MIT students/scientists working at the MIT Engine, developing our first prototype and we are at the seed funding stage. The startup is funded by MIT Sandbox, MIT Clean Energy Prize, Center for Advanced Innovation (CAI) and NASA.
