GTP is registered in the state of Washington and operates mostly in the King and Snohomish counties. These 2 counties serve as home to the thousands of Gambians and West Africans in the state.To bridge the gap between our community & the wider society which will enable us to have access to information and local resources,promote and encourage tolerance and peaceful co-existence between Gambians in WA & the wider society,teach kids of Gambian descend about the positive cultures from their parent's birth country, support and promote talent development among Gambians in WA (youths and women in particular) through media,arts and culture as well as promote diversity & integration.GTP is a 501(c) organization registered in the state of Washington whose primary mandate is to tap, nurture and promote talents, diversity and community integration. For 3 years in a raw, we have organized an annual back to school get together and picnic for Gambian families during which we supported them with back packs, school supplies, laptops/tablets and the enabling environment to learn about the positive cultures and history of their parents birth country as well as interact with one another. We recently started an internship program for teenage youths interested to learn about photo/videography. See attached links.In November of 2019, we supported our grandma's in Washington to launch the Seattle Gambian Grandma's Association who provide traditional marriage counseling to struggling couples and make peace between younger people in broken relationships. Since most of them don't have any formal education, once a month, we bring them together to interact and learn how to read and write English so that they can communicate with their grand kids and the wider public.In 2018-2019, nothing less than 15 Gambian women in WA were diagnosed with cancer. In November 2019,we received a grant from Group Health to create awareness on Cancer.This event is scheduled for October 2020.
