GAPS Uganda is a non-profit organization that started its work in 2014 under the name Centre for Governance, Peace and Security. Our focus was and continues to be mainstreaming atrocity prevention across all sectors of society. However, as we engaged various actors and learned from our work we realized that governance, peace, and security although central to our mandate fails to accurately reflect the fine-tuned focus we have on atrocity and conflict prevention, nor does governance, peace and security reflect our boundless approach to mainstreaming prevention across all sectors. In 2016, GAPS Uganda decided to rebrand itself to more effectively communicate what we do: provide interested agents of change with Genocide and Atrocity Prevention Support. We are owning our approach to primarily complement existing efforts and where needed run independent initiatives to fill gaps. Our services range from mentorship and curriculum development to policy analysis and program implementation. This has been the unique approach of GAPS and it is how we would like to present ourselves to the world. We are excited about our growth and look forward to sharing how we continue to develop.
