Nonprofit Organization Management - Washington, District of Columbia, United States
Our hackathons offer the chance for any student to to test and apply themselves in addressing a multitude of healthcare problems. We focus on interdisciplinary social innovation to emphasize the importance of communication between people from different professional backgrounds. Students step out of their comfort zones to address existing healthcare issues sourced directly from our participating organizations, giving them the opportunity to apply their skills hands-on to make a social impact. We encourage students to innovate on topics outside of their majors and contribute to the larger conversation of interdisciplinary ideation and creation.George Hacks represents a divergence from traditional 'hackathon' organizations. Rather than relying on technical experience for success, we put an emphasis on innovating in interdisciplinary teams, where input is based more on the validity of ideas rather than technical know-how. We provide students with a wealth of resources during and beyond our hackathons including mentorship of industry experts and technical skills workshops.
