With approximately 9,000 on-campus residents and members, the Residence Hall Association (RHA) is the second largest student organization at Georgia Tech. RHA exists to foster a firm spirit of leadership, membership, and community; provide a positive cultural, educational, and social atmosphere through quality programming; encourage participation in extracurricular activities; aid administrators in improving living conditions; and represent the best interests of residents to administrators and the community. In doing so, RHA and its Executive Board operate an annual budget of approximately $300,000; oversee the functioning of 14 Hall Councils, which span all 48 residence halls on campus; and appoint a Chief Justice to execute the functioning of the organization's Judicial Branch. Last year, RHA documented 14,117 unique interactions with residents, passed over 1300 bills—representing $181,667.42 of funding—and spearheaded residential advocacy initiatives to launch a new maintenance request system and pilot and implement a CARE Package program for students in crisis.
