Girijananda Chowdhury Group of Institutes consists of GIMT(Girijananda Chowdhury Institute of Management and Technology) and GIPS (Girijananda Chowdhury Institute Of Pharmaceutical Science).GIMT was founded on 7th September 2006 as the first non-governmental engineering institute. The Institute was established with due approval from the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi and is affiliated to Assam Science and Technology University (ASTU).(GIPS) began its operations as the first non-government pharmacy institute in the state of Assam. Both the colleges were established under the aegis of Srimanta Shankar Academy (SSA) - a registered service organization, set up in 1992, to help the society and its youth progress through education.
