The Global Rugby Leadership Institute is a network of universities around the world who promote excellence in rugby leadership, business, and performance. Coordinated at Mount St. Mary's University (USA), partners include: Massey University (New Zealand); University Claude Bernard Lyon 1 (France); St. Mary's University Twickenham (England); University of Edinburgh (Scotland); Higher School of Economics (Russia); Yamanashi Gakuin University (Japan). The Mission of the RLI is to promote education and leadership skills in management, coaching, and performance for the global rugby community as well as the wider sports business and general business world. Our specific focus is to provide educational pathways for aspiring players, current players, and former players, as well as others interested in the business and development of rugby and sports around the world whether those skills are applied in the sport or in the broader business environment. The Institute works with rugby leaders from around the world to promote leadership skills; develop business and management excellence; enhance educational pathways for players and administrators; promote quality coaching and administration in the sport; and improve human performance on and off the field. Included in the program plans are a certificate in rugby business leadership or in rugby coaching and performance leadership within our business, sport management and sport performance degree programs, or which can be taken separately as a Graduate Certificate. Each partner university will bring its academic programs that support rugby players -- aspiring, present and past – into the Institute. Our goal is to create an educational passport that can support players via online education, residential workshops and clinics, and networking opportunities in the rugby and business communities around the world. Like the legendary Musketeers we are "all for one and one for all" in our approach.
