Global Works Community Fund's (GWCF) mission is to spark global awareness and inspire community engagement in motivated high school students from low-income backgrounds. We accomplish this by:• Opening an opportunity for low-income students to engage in service-learning experiences at home and abroad• Building relevant skills, promoting self-reliance, and exploring cultural understanding• Matching young adults with mentors within their community• Working with community partners to broaden our reach and effectivenessGlobal Works Community Fund was founded on the idea that a young adult's financial situation should not limit them from opportunities that foster personal growth, self-reliance, and resilience. This is effectively done through experiences that incorporate service-learning, purposeful travel, and adult mentorships – which are the fundamental components of our Student Fellowship program.The Student Fellowship is composed of three parts: 1) a 4 month mentor program that prepares our students for; 2) a three week service-learning, cultural immersion program abroad with Global Works Travel, LLC, followed by; 3) a "Bring it Home" service project, where our students take all the leadership and community engagement skills they've learned and they implement them in a service project of their own, in their home community.
