Nonprofit Organization Management - Pontiac, Michigan, United States
Hello Friends & AssociatesHave you ever wondered how you can help to protect children from bullying and abuse? Now is the perfect opportunity for you to become an advocate for child safety. I kept quiet for more than 35 years because of shame, guilt, and fear of being negatively judged by others. Through the organization founded by myself and Dr. Larry Mathews, also a survivor, we are fighting the epidemic of child abuse, which affects every household, school, and community. Even if you or your children have not experienced abuse or bullying, you know of victims. Right here in the United States 5 children die every day from abuse. 1 in 4 girls is sexually assaulted by her 18th birthday. 1 in 6 boys is sexually assaulted by his 18th birthday. 160,000 children miss school each day because of bullying and every 10 seconds someone reports an incident of child abuse. Also, 25% of all young ladies away from home in college, will be sexually assaulted and usually by someone they know. Larry and I cofounded Good Secrets and Bad Secrets in 2015. The organization is a Michigan-based 501c3 and was named in honor of my first book, Good Secrets and Bad Secrets with Libby the Lizard. Our mission is awareness, prevention, and intervention of child abuse. In 2018, we launched the Libby the Lizard Child Safety Program at Michigan's Inkster Preparatory Academy. The program is designed to build and enhance knowledge, skills, and communication skills in reading, social studies, personal, and group safety. Right now, we are raising funds to bring Libby the Lizard to Detroit's Pasteur Elementary School. The program will be implemented during the Spring 2019 semester. For an exciting 7 weeks, students will receive a masterfully delivered curriculum with life skills they can use immediately. Please take time to support the fundraising efforts. Together we can be a part of turning the tide on child abuse through the Libby the Lizard Child Safety Program.
