Farming - Gostwyck, New South Wales, Australia
Ultra fine Merino RWS certified.Gostwyck ceased mulling in 2005. That same year, Gostwyck started it Techno grazing programme as the next step in our time controlled grazing method and regenerative agriculture. Gostwyck became 100% rotationally grazed in 2010.This has seen a major change in carbon sequestration, pasture production and stock health. We use a tiny fraction of the chemicals that were used in past years. Any use of chemicals is pre-emptive for specific weed control and always focused. Stock condition and health has has increased strength, quality of fibre production, and quality of stock overall. The overall productivity has also increased and negative labour hours, such as drenching for parasites has decreased to about 15%. This allows us to better care for our soils and pastures. We continue to improve the quality of nutrition available to all stock, through pasture improvement and soil improvement by protecting the soil biology and using the right fertilisers and supplement based on soil tests and plant tissue tests.Thank to the Techno grazing systems, we can be much more targeted as we are dealing with small areas (2 to 10 hectares) rather than the 50 to 120Ha of years gone past.Seeing all our stock at least twice a week is also a ideal way to deal with any issues early for any animal. Any animal needing attention is easy to spot in our smaller groups.
