The Greater Lakewood Chamber of Commerce was incorporated on April 11, 1949 by John Todd. Five years before the City of Lakewood. A time when Truman was inaugurated as President and color TV was first introduced by RCA. It was this year that Chrysler first offered a key ignition instead of a push button!The Chamber has resided in several locations including the former Dutch Village Shopping Center, the Burns Community Center, Dr. David Goren's Office, two different locations on Del Amo Blvd and a plaza on South St. The Chamber now operates at 24 Lakewood Center Mall.Through the years, the Greater Lakewood Chamber of Commerce has provided many services and events such as the Economic Forecast Luncheon, the Business Expo, the Women in Business Council, Ribbon Cuttings & After Hours Networking Mixers & Socials, the Annual Awards & installation Luncheon, and our famous Annual Summer Stampede Car Show, A Salute to the Military and Veterans… Show Your Colors!The Chamber launched the Shop Lakewood…Stay Lakewood Loyal project, that is year round. We have our own website www.shoplakewood.org and has partnered with the City of Lakewood to make the Shop Lakewood…Stay Lakewood Loyal project a success for any company with a Lakewood Business license.It is amazing to think how far the Chamber has come over the years. Although there have been a lot of changes over the past 64+ years, there are some things that have remained the same.
