The vision for Groundswell Church began when Jeff Pike, [a Canadian born and raised] was studying his second year in Sydney, Australia at Hillsong College, 2010. His heart became burdened for the lost and particularly for the people of Toronto.Through the advice of his leaders and mentors, Jeff began meeting with other Canadians in college and discovering their passion for the city of Toronto. Out of this he began a weekly connect group in his home, where the students could worship Jesus and hear the heart behind this vision of Groundswell Church.In 2011 Jeff graduated from Hillsong College and 3 months later married his wife, Mika. They are now pioneering this vision in Toronto, Ontario.In August of 2013, Jeff and Mika moved to the west end of Toronto, they left their jobs and families to be in this great city. They started building a solid team to establish the foundations of Groundswell Church.Jeff & Mika got connected with ARC (Association of Related Churches) through their Pastors in Australia and found a great resource of training and support through their Church-planting process. In 2013 they completed the Church-planting evaluation with ARC and were given the "green light" to launch their Church in September, 2014.So here we are. Our Church launched on the 21st, September 2014 and it was absolutely incredible! God is doing an amazing work already through our team, and people's live are being changed by the love of Christ.We meet weekly with our team and we are constantly praying over our city. There is no limit to what God can do through His Church. We stand in faith believing that now is the time for His salvation over our city.Groundswell Church will always be a place that anyone can call "home". And we are so excited for the rest of our story to unfold, join us on this crazy adventure!
