Gunsgreen House Trust manages Gunsgreen House, a historic 18th century mansion in the coastal Scottish Borders town of Eyemouth. The house was built in 1753 by smuggler John Nisbet, designed by architect John Adam, and is full of secret hiding places where smuggled goods were kept. The main item that was smuggled was tea, and the house has a hidden lead-lined 'tea chute' where this was kept.The Gunsgreen House Trust manages Gunsgreen House as a visitor attraction, wedding and events venue, and self-catering accommodation. The trust achieved funding of over 2.5million to rennovate the house, and it has been open to the public since 2009.
