Environmental Services - Hamilton, Ontario, Canada
The Hamilton Naturalists' Club is a non-profit organization with over 600 members dedicated to the study, appreciation and conservation of our wild plants and animals.\\The Club traces its history to the founding of the Hamilton Bird Protection Society in 1919. Our early achievements include the designation of Cootes Paradise as a nature reserve in 1927, and the organization of 34,000 children in Junior Audubon Clubs across Canada during the 1930's. We celebrated our 85th anniversary in 2004.\\Some of our other achievements are the purchase of the first nature reserve (Spooky Hollow) in 1961, the urban school programs, the 100 plus hectares of property owned by the club or managed as wildlife reserves for others, including conservation authorities and the aggregate industry and participation in the Cootes to Escarpment EcoPark System.\\A Human Voice for Our Wildlife and Natural Areas\\Our goals are:\ - to promote the enjoyment of nature through environmental appreciation and conservation\ - to foster public interest and education in the appreciation and study of nature\ - to encourage the conservation of natural resources and environmental protection\\We are actively looking for volunteers all around the year.
