The Health and Information Literacy Access (HILA) Alliance was launched at the outset of the COVID-19 pandemic in order to make credible information on COVID-19 accessible to marginalized individuals and communities.We recognize the critical importance of communication and information in supporting health, wellbeing, peace, justice, and sustainable development. Access to information is intrinsically connected to the right to know and the right to exist.HILA Alliance mobilizes people, knowledge, governments, and organizations to support the development and realization of more inclusive and just communities both online and offline. We develop media and information literacy (#MIL) capacities in collaboration with diverse communities in 3 core areas:1. Infodemic management; addressing disinformation and misinformation.2. Digital justice; tackling racism, discrimination, and exclusion.3. Decolonize knowledge; promoting Open Science, Open Culture, and the rights of Indigenous, racialized, forcibly displaced, and disabled persons.
