Hospitality House, a regional nonprofit homeless services agency, works in seven rural North Carolina counties (Watauga, Wilkes, Ashe, Avery, Alleghany, Mitchell, Yancey) providing housing, shelter, hunger relief, homeless prevention, street outreach, counseling and crisis assistance.In our ongoing quest to end homelessness, we operate six unique housing programs - Winter Shelter, Emergency Shelter, Transitional Housing, Permanents Supportive Housing, Rapid Rehousing and Scattered Site Housing. Scattered Site Housing consists of eleven (11) leased properties (apartments, homes and duplexes) in Watauga and Wilkes counties providing stability and case management for families and individuals with disabilities or mental illness. We are seeking to further expand this program in Wilkes and into Ashe county. Our hunger relief programs include the Bread of Life Community Kitchen, which serves 3-meals-a-day, 7-days-a-week, 365-days-a-year to anyone who is hungry, a client choice Food Pantry, which is open 7-days-a-week, 365-days-a-year to all who qualify and our quarter acre Organic Gardens that consist of 30 raised-beds, 2 hoop houses, a passive-solar greenhouse, small orchard, berry patch, pick-your-own herb garden and 18 hens.
