Humble Bee is an early stage biomimicry research company backed by the Go Global Day One initiative, NZVIF, the ArcAngel Network and Callaghan Innovation. We are working on scaling a superior, biologically-inspired material that will provide an alternative polymer to industry, as well as improve human health and that of the environment. Alongside Victoria University and The Ferrier Institute, we are analysing a specific species of bee in order to understand how nature creates materials with properties that are useful industrially - such as resistance to water, flame, high temperatures, and chemicals. We believe that our humble bee has the power to solve a number of the pollution problems associated with petrochemical-based products.
