Ahvaz Jundishapur University of Medical Sciences and health services, Infectious and Tropical Diseases Research CenterIntroduction of the Infectious and Tropical Diseases Research Center:This center officially started its research activities in 2003 based on the license issued by the Council of the Expansion of the Medical Sciences Universities on 25/05/2003 and is currently chaired by Dr. Seyed Mohammad Alavi. In addition, in its meeting dated 26/04/2010 the Council of the Expansion of the Medical Sciences Universities agreed to the establishment of the Center definitively as well as the admission of students in PhD by research; moreover, in the two hundred and 14th session held by the Council of the Expansion of the Medical Sciences Universities on 19/12/2011, the Council agreed to establish a health research institute with inclusion of Diabetes Research Center, Infectious and Tropical Diseases Research Center and Thalassemia & Hemoglobinopathy Research Center, at the University (Health Research Institute, Infectious and Tropical Diseases Research Center, Ahvaz Jundishapur University of Medical Sciences, Ahvaz, Iran). The number of research projects of the center since 2004 until now is 382 (158 research projects and 224 theses).
