Instant Search was started in 1991 by ex FT man Anthony Capstick. The basic idea for the business was that people wanted access to online information without paying for a subscription, being charged only for when the information was accessed.The business grew up around that service, and the technology helped develop the business into a mail-order company, using call centre technology to handle the incoming call traffic. Business Information is still the bread and butter, whilst the consulting side means we have worked with the likes of GE, Unilever, Barclays Bank, Balfour Beatty, Fujitsu, BP, Hewlett Packard, Department of Transport, Cabinet Office, Microsoft, BT Wholesale, many small and medium sized businesses, numerous Town and County Councils, as well as the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the Northwest Development Agency (NWDA).
