Instant Search was started in 1991 by ex FT man Anthony Capstick. The basic idea for the business was that people wanted access to online information without paying for a subscription, being charged only for when the information was accessed.The business grew up around that service, and the technology helped develop the business into a mail-order company, using call centre technology to handle the incoming call traffic.
