Welcome to the Florida Chapter of the International Nurses Society on Addictions! We are a new and growing chapter of IntNSA; established in 2018. The chapter was formed in response to the need for a state-wide nurse's society focused on the prevention, intervention, treatment, and management of addictive disorders including alcohol and other drug dependencies, nicotine dependencies, eating disorders, dual and multiple diagnosis, and process addictions such as gambling.The state of Florida is world renowned for the beauty of its diverse landscapes and diverse peoples. However, it is also becoming increasingly known as one of the epicenters for the opioid crisis, with opioid-related death rates far exceeding national averages. In addition to the opioid crisis, the use, misuse, and abuse of many other drugs and alcohol is on the rise within the state of Florida. Currently, tobacco, alcohol, marijuana, opiates, Xanax, Valium, heroin, crack, cocaine, and crystal meth are the most prevalent substance of abuse throughout the state.
