Edmonton is home to a large and established Black community. A community that traces its origins on this land to the founding of the first non-Indigenous settlement on the banks of the North Saskatchewan River. However, members of Edmonton's Black community are often not reflected in the institutions of this city, or included in conversations around social and political issues.Is This For Real? is a podcast about living as a Black person in Edmonton. Each season will centre around a different facet of Black life in the city.Our first season, Breaking the Blue Wall, explores policing issues in Edmonton.
