The Isla Vista Recreation and Park District (IVRPD) was established in 1972 and is guided by a five member Board of Directors elected by the local residents to serve four year terms. The District operates twenty five developed parks and natural Open Space areas, many with spectacular ocean views. Recreational activities available include a rock climbing boulder, volleyball and basketball courts, a skate plaza, disc golf course, pic-nic areas, playfields, and a successful after school program.
