Kanal Innovations Charitable Trust, a charitable organization, established in 2016 at Kollam, works for the empowerment of children and also for the downtrodden communities of the society. Kanal addresses various problems of children such as lack of leadership quality, pressure from society, lack of medium for discussion of childhood problems, sex abuse, alcoholism, drug and substance abuse, addiction to the internet, etc.In a very short time, Kanal could create its own identity in relation to activities for the welfare of the children. Kanal has become an inevitable part of various government departments such as Kerala State Commission for the Protection of Child Rights (KSCPCR), Kerala State Women's Commission, Kerala Social Justice Department, Department of Women and Child Development, Department of Education, Kerala Police, Kudumbashree Mission, Child Welfare Committees, Student Police Cadets, Our Responsibility to Children (ORC), Kerala State Nirbhaya Cell, Childline, Kerala State Council for Child Welfare, Lakshmibai National College of Physical Education and various nongovernmental and private entities in child development programs. Kanal is an official knowledge and training partner to the Extension activities of MSc Extension, Department of Home Science, Govt College for Women – Thiruvananthapuram. We addressed the gender and child rights issues in Kerala state in the Generation equality forum, an initiative by UN Women, the Government of France, and the Government of Mexico.
