The Kasseler Kunstverein was founded in 1835 as an independent forum for the promotion and presentation of contemporary art. It was one of the first of its kind in Germany and part of the tradition of civic commitment. Today the Kunstverein, with its downtown 500 m² of exhibition space in the Museum Fridericianum, offers artists a unique field of experimentation.The exhibition program is developed and implemented by an honorary board. The Kasseler Kunstverein puts its curatorial focus on solo exhibitions of contemporary national and international artists.Annually, the Kunstverein presents four exhibitions, plus numerous cooperation projects such as the annual media art exhibition Monitoring, theatre performances and concerts.
