King Edward VI School (State funded fully comprehensive) This page gives a flavour of the school but is by no means comprehensive. Opened in 1550, we were the second King Edward VI School in the country, and in 2000 the school had been founded for 450 years. Originally a grammar school for boys, who studied Greek, Latin and religious instruction, it has moved to various different sites in the town all of which are marked with plaques donated by the Old Burians Association of past students. The school takes the responsibility of being a Royal School very seriously and our community is fully committed to the school's strive for excellence. We boast fantastic facilities, inspirational teaching and a fully comprehensive intake. For more information, please visit our school website.
