Kinleven Marine Kinleven Marine launched its first product, a yacht mast ladder, in October 2015. This is a unique and robust product that gives sailors much safer and easier access to their mastheads than the traditional bosun's chair or halyard climbing solutions. Work can be carried out anywhere up a yacht's mast standing and hands-free. Comparable to permanent steps fitted to the mast, it comes in at considerably less cost, whether financial, in windage or sail-wear, and with no compromise to the integrity of the mast or associated additional corrosion risk. Soon to be launched is the first of a range of Man-Overboard Ladders deployable by a person in the water. New Boats with the EU now have to be fitted with such a device, although some, being fitted at the transom are hazardous to use unless in mill-pond conditions. MOB Ladders are best fitted amidships or just aft, where up and down movement of the boat in the water is at a minimum. Like all Kinleven Marine Products our MOB Ladders will be built to last and withstand anything unlikely to be thrown at them. Also in development is a Mast Ladder Climbing and Deck Working Full Safety Harness and Jack Stay System designed to prevent MOB incidents, and also designed to be safer if supporting a persons weight and more. This is in response to recent statistics highlighted by Yachting Monthly suggesting that sailors are more likely to survive MOB incidents if not tethered. The fact that being picked up later appears to be an option a man-overboard is more likely to survive, suggests to us that there's a need for innovation in this type of equipment.
