Fund-raising - Bergen, Hordaland, Norway
Kolibri - Childen At Risk Foundation works with children in areas characterized by poverty, violence, crime, intoxication and lack of public services in health and education. This creates areas with major social problems and develops into risk areas, where children become the losers and in extreme cases, become street children. Risk areas lead to ruined lives and human tragedy. Uncertainty and unpredictability make these areas very difficult to grow up in. Kolibri - Children at Risk Foundation (CARF) was started by social entrepreneur Gregory John Smith in 1992. Art and culture are the tools and characterize all parts of the business. Kolibri Brazil currently has tre activity and cultural centers in São Paulo, Brazil. The children and youngsters must commit to attending regular public school, so they are at the centers when they are not at school. They build knowledge, self-confidence and belief in their own strengths. There is a great focus on the social community. Kolibri Brazil has educational programs for children and young people from the age of 11 until they are 19 years old. In Norway, we work with information, fundraising and cultural exchange. We have partner programs for companies, support schemes for business groups and clubs and fixed support schemes for private individuals. All our income is funds raised. Remember: It is a risk not to help at-risk children.
