The Kona Marathon and Family Fun Runs was founded in 1993 by Jim Lovell, founder and proprietor of JTL Timing Systems and Jon Kunitake, founder and operator of Kunitake Coffee Farms in an effort to revitalize road running in West Hawaii Island. The results were tremendous. The Kona Marathon and Family Fun Runs has grown over the past few years into West Hawaii's premiere road race offering what no other event can. We are proud to have UCC Coffee as our title sponsor for this event.The Kona Marathon and Family Fun Runs has quickly grown into West Hawaii Island's premiere road race offering all four traditional road racing distances: Marathon, 1/2 Marthon, 10K, and 5K.
