Kotowski and Associates has been a leader in workers' compensation management, specifically through the practice of independent medical case management, since 2002. Although we offer a wide range of services provided by registered nurses, our main focus continues to be enhancing our workers' compensation management services. Our goal is to provide professional, clinical expert registered nurse medical case managers in the most cost-effective way possible while remaining patient care advocates. Communication is our key to success but only through collaboration with all parties involved with a claim is this goal possible. We pride ourselves in recognizing the key role a registered nurse, medical case manager plays in a workers' compensation claim. Our number one responsibility is to assist the claimant through the managed care maze. We achieve this through education, mentoring and finding answers and resources for our patients AND clients. The medical case manager is the on the front lines of the workers' compensation management program for any employer, insurance company and/or third party administrator. Simply put we are the messenger between all of those involved in the workers' compensation process. Workers' compensation medical case managers use knowledge, judgment and skills based on principles of biological, physiological, behavioral, social and the holistic perspective of nursing science in applying the critical thinking model known as the nursing process in the development of patient care plan. Workers' compensation nurses must be ethical, responsible, and accountable in the claim process. Acquiring knowledge, wisdom and learning is a life long process. Registered nurse medical case managers must assume responsibility for their ongoing medical education. The Case Management Society of America and The American Case Management Association are committed to enabling the medical case manager in meeting that responsibility.
