Think Tanks - St. Louis, Missouri, United States
Kuumba Talks is an unofficial but influential student group which creates spaces for presenters to speak/present to Washington University peers on something that they are passionate about, or plagued by, or seriously contemplating. The talks are held at local Saint Louis apartments where anyone is welcome to come. There are two primary things that make a Kuumba Talk a Kuumba Talk: contemplation, and movement. Speakers share talks which they could not have given before the mentoring process. In a typical speech or Ted talk, people talk about what they know. In a K-talk, people talk about what they do not yet understand – and intentional, personal, weekly mentoring sessions help speakers to dig deeper and push farther to make sense of your ideas in new ways, grounded in the concrete. You can check out some past talks on our soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/kuumbatv/sets/kuumba-talks
