A Non profit organization, LiberalsIndia for Good Governance is a continuation of ILG (the India Liberal Group founded in1965 by Late Mr. Minoo Masani, Author and Parliamentarian). Among the founding members of the Group were Prof. B. R. Shenoy, Mr. H.V.R. Iyengar, Dr. Fredie Mehta, Mr. Khushwant Singh and Madame Sophie Wadia.LiberalsIndia for Good Governance is a think tank that facilitates a constructive dialogue on good governance, sensible policies and the defence of freedom, social justice and equality of opportunity, based on the fundamental liberal beliefs of: ■the right of individuals to personal liberty, liberty of thought, expression, belief, faith and worship ■the right of association ■the right to private property ■the right to information ■the right to privacy LiberalsIndia affirms that active and participatory citizenship at all levels is essential for sustaining a liberal and democratic society. LiberalsIndia aims to uphold liberal values and excellence; character and integrity, based on the belief that liberty with individual responsibility, and a tolerance of different points of view, is the foundation of civilised society. LiberalsIndia believes that the business of government is governance, not business and that the State is an instrument of the citizens it serves. Any action of the State must respect the principles of democratic accountability and the rule of law.
