LLUEST HORSE AND PONY TRUST is an equine welfare charity located at the foot of the Brecon Beacons in South West Wales. The Trust was founded in 1985 by Ginny Hajdukiewicz who was so moved by the plight of horses and ponies struggling to survive on the mountains and commons in the region that she began to rescue them. She visited the local markets and was horrified by the terrible treatment of the ‘wild' ponies going through the sale, so campaigned to improve conditions for them. Ginny managed to at least secure the placing of slip-proof flooring and the reduction of the use of sticks by the drovers. Sadly, Ginny died in 1996 at the young age of 38, but she worked hard during her lifetime to improve conditions for many horses. The charity has continued her work and rescued 100's of horses, ponies and donkeys, saving them from a life of misery or certain death, then placing them in suitable loving guardian homes once rehabilitated. We work alongside other organisations to enforce animal welfare laws and promote best practice. LHPD are proud to be the only National Equine Welfare Council accredited equine rescue based in Mid and West Wales.
