London Metropolitan Archives (LMA) is London's public archive, a research centre that specialises in the history of London. Funded and managed by the City of London Corporation, it cares for and provide access to the historical archives of businesses, schools, hospitals, charities and all manner of other organisations from the London area. With millions of books, maps, photographs, films and documents dating back to 1067 in the strong rooms, it provides access to one of the finest city archives in the world - you could call it the memory of London.LMA is free to use and open to everyone. Users of the archive have a wide range of research interests, including family, community and local history, and LMA works with students, artists, producers and architects. However, you don't have to have a specific reason to visit.
