The Louisiana Resource Center for Educators was founded by building a community pertnership with the Louisiana Department of Economic Development, the Baton Rouge ARea Foundation, LSU, EBR Parish Government and the Novartis U.S. Foundation. On April 28, 1998, LRCE opened, becoming the first and only shared resource center for PreK-12 teachers in Louisiana.LRCE has experienced remarkable growth over nearly 20 years. The library has grown from a collection of about 5000 titles in 1998 to over 110,000 titles today. LRCE extends beyond the library and includes LRCE Teach!, an alternitive certification program; Reach for Success, a summer enrichment program; and Find your Future, a workforce development program for high school sophomores.
