Environmental Services - Gardena, California, United States
For over 100 years, UV light has been used to disinfect environmental pathogens in hospitals, laboratories, and water treatment facilities. Upon the advent of Covid-19, LUV Systems formulated a proprietary system with low-wavelength UVC lights to disinfect public spaces, including the air people breathe and surfaces that they touch. We quickly assembled a team from MIT, Boston University, and Caltech to determine the unique low wavelength UVC that is most effective at pathogen disinfection while maximizing public safety. Selected medical, photonics, and engineering experts were tapped to incorporate key features to ensure safety and effectiveness for our Lo-UV product line. Current efforts include dose and exposure research on common, real-world surfaces and a first-embodiment prototype for indoor air disinfection. The unique feature of our systems is that they can be used while people are present – without any direct exposure to humans or pets. Our core principle is to develop products that are effective, safe, and affordable for consumers.
