The Malaysia Biotechnology Students' Association (MYBIOSA) was recently established on the 22nd of November 2018. Malaysia is no stranger to the field of Biotechnology. In the year 2005, the National Biotechnology Policy (NBP) was launched by the government to further develop three main sectors which are agriculture, healthcare, and industrial manufacturing. The Malaysian government recognized that biotechnology was a key player in improving the country's social and economic development. The NBP was also established as a cornerstone for the advancement of scientific research, STEM education, and biotechnology-based businesses in the country.Though Malaysia is a long way from being established as a country pioneering in the Biotechnology field, yet it is pivotal to start nurturing future leaders/researchers from the grass root of the biotech community, the students. MYBIOSA is an association that was formed to be a networking and development platform for Biotechnology students/graduates. Biotechnology is an ever-growing field of knowledge and opportunity. Providing a platform for interaction among the students allows for easy dissemination of information and opportunities available in Malaysia.MYBIOSA is a hub to nurture students to be holistic individuals by promoting and organizing extracurricular activities. These activities equip the students with soft skills, leadership, and creative thinking skills thus maintaining a balance with the education-centric system. Collaborations with the Malaysian Bioeconomy Development Corporation and the United States of America States Department's Initiative: Global Innovation through Science and Technology(GIST) brings in opportunities from the private and government sectors while also bridging the gap with the industry in Malaysia or abroad.
