The idea to serve children in urban slums of Delhi coined 17 years ago when Ms. Jasbir Kaur, a Delhi University Graduate, started Matri Sudha in 2001 to serve children having less resources and opportunities. The goal is to create ‘Nutrition Champions' from among community stakeholders and institutions working to address maternal and child health and nutrition issues. - It works in areas of education through its cross cutting linkages of health and nutrition of children studying in government schools with adolescent health as the central theme. - The organisation works directly with children to develop critical understanding about child rights issues, promoting positive behaviour and attitude and developing leadership qualities.- Conducting social action research, mid-term evaluations, baselines, KAP study, impact assessment studies, review articles, fact findings etc.- It builds the capacity of frontline workers like ASHAs and Anganwadi workers and community women on health, sanitation, hygiene, nutrition, and protection issues- Policy Advocacy – Matri Sudha does policy advocacy related to nutrition and food security, health, education and issues which impact children in many ways.
