Maywand Foundation Details
The Maywand Foundation is a 2020 initiative that aims to deliver integrated health services to the most vulnerable children, women, and men across Afghanistan. We believe it is unacceptable that children's lives are ruined by irreversible paralysis caused by polio, decades after a vaccine was introduced. We are implementing a consistent schedule of vaccinations and immunizations which brings Afghan children basic human rights that children everywhere else in the world enjoy. The biggest challenges? Rugged mountains, freezing winters, and isolated communities that don't have access to clean water, electricity, and basic education. We are the only organization in Afghanistan that is ready to tackle these obstacles by enabling our mobile immunization teams to reach geographically secluded areas in all 34 provinces.Our vision is holistic and multi-layered. Alongside healthcare, we promote education, help build roads and wells, fund farming schemes and create jobs for women. We can't fix healthcare without healing society's biggest ailments such as poverty, unemployment, and the abysmal situation of women in rural Afghanistan. The Maywand Foundation field family consists of healthcare professionals, educators and volunteers, all working tirelessly towards our common targets. Our first target? To reach nearly 500,000 people by June 2021. Our second? To reach everybody else. We'll get there.
