We understand it is a difficult time for all essential workers across the country. As a group of medical students relieved from clinical duties due to the coronavirus pandemic, we wanted to help our colleagues fight the frontlines and MD COVIDsitters was born. How we make a differenceMD COVIDsitters is a volunteer-run organization with the mission of connecting frontline healthcare workers and other essential workers with aspiring healthcare professionals to help provide childcare, pet care, tutoring, online classes, errands (e.g. meal prep, grocery trips), and other household services in Maryland. We have recently expanded our services to Washington D.C. and Northern Virginia due to increased demand. It takes a village!Reasons to count on usDue to our strong grassroots campaign and assistance of partner organizations, we have 150+ student volunteers in 18 counties within Maryland and our numbers continue to grow daily. With the ever-changing climate of this pandemic, we also accommodate personalized services. Our framework is adopted from MN COVIDsitters and their collaboration with the Minnesota Department of Health and Governor enabling medical students to provide childcare safely. Our caregiversThis initiative is 100% volunteer-led and not affiliated with any university or educational Institution. Our caregivers are local medical students and other aspiring health professionals that have offered their time and skills to support their community while regular clinical duties are suspended. Many are CPR-trained and we require background checks from all volunteers to ensure the safety of the families we service.Essential WorkersWe are here to support you. We encourage you to sign up and tell a friend so we can help ease the burden placed on essential workers together.
