Minatronics Corporation is the Inventor of the LightGard Fiber Optic Security products that are extremely versatile in protecting all types of products. Unlike other monitored alarm systems, the LightGard products can eliminate the opportunity for theft even while the products are being used. Back in 1986 the LightGard Security System was originally invented for Carnegie Mellon to help protect the college owned computers and scientific equipment and their associated accessories from theft by students and faculty as well as cleaning personnel and is still being used there as well as at numerous other colleges and universities throughout the USA and Canada. The LightGard products can be used to monitor tires or lawnmowers on the sidewalk outside a retail establishment. They can be used to monitor explosive environments since there is no spark when a light beam is interrupted. The Plastic Fiber Optic loop can be used in toxic areas such as where chlorine is being used. (When you buy Clorox at a supermarket it comes in a plastic container!) Sandia Labs approved the Fiber Optic cable for monitoring nuclear material.
