MOCIA Details
The MOCIA programme aims at being able to signal an increased risk of cognitive decline and to improve prevention by developing a personalised lifestyle intervention. MOCIA stands for ‘Maintaining Optimal Cognitive function In Ageing'. As part of a global initiative, we will be testing a multi-domain lifestyle intervention in a large group of Dutch older adults. In further research, we focus on individual differences, predictive factors, biological mechanisms, behavioral change and e-Health technology, with the ultimate goal of offering older adults a personalised intervention at home.By the end of 2027, when the MOCIA project ends, we will know whether a multi-modal lifestyle intervention is successful in maintaining healthy cognitive functioning in Dutch older adults. In addition, we hope to have developed an eHealth module that, with the help of feedback on predictive measures, can help people at home to achieve and maintain a preventive, healthy lifestyle and thus stay cognitively healthy.The project is funded by the NWO crossover programme, which has the aim to strengthen the Dutch knowledge and innovation system with public-private partnerships.The MOCIA public-private partnership consists of various academic institutions and co-financing partners.
