Founded in 2009, Mool is a charitable trust working for participatory development through capacity building for sustainable socio-economic transformation in Kashmir. Mool inspires and enables youth to build local resource-based, environment-friendly, and regenerative lifestyles. Our ongoing work includes participatory research with youth (capacity building via participatory dialogue, fellowships, internships, volunteering opportunities), promoting sustainable practices in farming and development, and modest emergency relief work. One of our significant ongoing projects is the articulation of a common and shared vision by youth for a participatory and inclusive society! The programs include:a) Boujwoatt - fellowships for sustainability. This program is for young people seeking to explore their ideas to develop self sufficient and sustainable lifestyles. Interns or fellows self-design the program; they get trained in self-development, leadership, sustainability, community development, farming (and other indigenous businesses) and business management.b) Panun - integrated practices resource center This program conducts participatory research, documents, collects and shares knowledge on indigenous traditions, practices and resources focusing on nutrition, clothing, shelter, and farming for a healthy individual, family and community life.c) Zanun - educational counseling program Mool offers programs to engage people, especially children, through participatory education including topics such as entrepreneurship, self-development, leadership, learning, communication, confidence building, and other skills for life.d) Palzun - community wellbeing programThis program conducts participatory action research with local communities to facilitate just resolutions of the issues faced by them. It also mobilizes resources for and undertakes relief and rehabilitation activities during emergencies. Mool welcomes ideas, contributions, volunteers & questions!
