MumKIND was established in July 2014 with a first-hand understanding of the enormity of motherhood, and the significance of a strong support network, as well as a safe environment for a family to call home. Motherhood is a mammoth responsibility, the biggest of challenges and the most all-consuming of roles. Too many women do not have the safety, security and resources to raise their children the way they would like to and deserve to. Too many women are raising children in difficult circumstances and alone for a variety of reasons; some have escaping domestic violence or drug & alcohol abuse, many are unemployed, disconnected and too many are homeless. Children are put to bed cold, hungry and frightened and these families are uncertain of what tomorrow will bring - they need help. They need care. They need kindness. MumKIND's aim is to show and inspire kindness. We aim to do small things with great love to demonstrate care and compassion to mothers across South Australia, who desperately need support.We are a group of Mums based in Adelaide who want to make a difference.It began with a single email request for friends to simply gather items from their own homes that could be re-gifted to someone less fortunate. We received nearly 1,000 items of beautifully washed and presented clothing, bedding, blankets, sleeping bags, shoes, hats, nappies, wipes and more.Since then we have delivered thousands of items to hundreds of families ranging from small chocolate parcels as a sweet treat, to individual handmade Christmas puddings, thousands of children's books, packs of kitchen essentials, hygiene products, special requests for individual families and much more. All donations are carefully planned to deliver meaningful impact to their recipients and all donations go directly to the families that they are designed to support, and each item to someone who specifically needs it.We are always working, we are always collecting, we are always seeking input and support and we love to build amazing relationships while we do it.
