Non-Profit - Arlington, VA, US
The National Center on Protection Orders and Full Faith and Credit was created in 1995 to facilitate inter-jurisdictional enforcement of protection orders in state, tribal and territorial courts pursuant to the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA). Our employees actively work to raise public awareness of the Full Faith and Credit provision and provide problem-solving technical assistance and support to individuals and jurisdictions for seamless implementation of VAWA. We provide assistance via consultation, written materials and training on: implementation and enforcement of the Full Faith and Credit provision, enhancing enforcement of federal and state firearm prohibitions related to domestic violence, federal domestic violence and stalking crimes, and promoting enforcement of custody provisions within protection orders. Constituents include law enforcement, prosecutors, the defense bar, judges, court administrators and other court personnel, civil attorneys, victim advocates and other professionals who work with victims of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking. We also provide technical assistance to victims and survivors of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, teen dating violence, stalking and other forms of abuse.
