The National Security Space Institute (NSSI) is the Department of Defense's focal point for space continuing education, complementing existing space education programs at Air University, the Naval Postgraduate School, and the Air Force Institute of Technology. The NSSI coordinates closely with an array of education partners to fulfill its unique mission of annually providing in-residence, online, blended, and mobile space professional continuing education to 2,600 DoD and select allied officers, NCOs, and civilians. In addition to graduating Space Force, Air Force, Army, Navy, and Marine students, the NSSI is proud to have expanded its international education beyond FVEY to over 40 nations. Vision Educating and inspiring visionary space leaders of today and tomorrow History 2004: NSSI was created under Air Force Space Command (AFSPC) to provide space education and training to space professionals within the national security space community. 2009: NSSI realigned under Air University's Eaker Center for Professional Development. 2016: NSSI realigned under Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT). 2020: NSSI realigned under U.S. Space Force (USSF). Location The NSSI resides on Peterson Space Force Base, Colorado, in The Moorman Space Education and Training Center (SETC), a learning facility named in honor of space warfare pioneer USAF General (Ret.)
