Renewables & Environment - Leusden, Utrecht, Netherlands
NEDPAC is building a consortium of companies to create large scale pumped hydro storage in the Netherlands. Large scale storage can be used to store renewable energy when there is an excess, and use it when there is not enough sun and wind. The low cost of energy on the SPOT energy market when there is too much sun and wind, and the high cost of energy when there is not enough sun and wind, create an excellent business case for such a pumped hydro storage facility, with a lower cost per GWh than an additional wind farm.
