Network Atlanta Community Technology, Inc., a non-profit corporation, is dedicated to bringing technology to refugees in the Atlanta Metro area. It is our goal to provide low cost computers and training to refugees, the disabled, low-income people and seniors. We work closely with the refugees and all the stakeholders in the community to collect donated computers from churches, businesses, individuals and recyclers. Hard drives are cleaned using the Department of Defense 5200.22-M method so previous data is unrecoverable. The computers are than refurbished and distributed. As a Community Microsoft Authorized Refurbisher (MAR), we install a fully licensed copy of Microsoft Windows XP Professional, Microsoft Office 2003 Standard and the Microsoft Digital Literacy Curriculum. Anti-virus software and anti-spyware software is also included so no additional software is necessary.Included with each computer is basic skills training that teaches how to use the mouse and keyboard, manage files, folders, programs, security, email and internet search.Network Atlanta Community Technology wants to help change the lives of refugees by providing them access to technology common to most everyone in America. Computers and training will improve their lives by providing the technology necessary to search for jobs, advance their education and communicate using email, Skype and social networking. To distribute these low cost computers we will work with all agencies and 501(c)(3) organizations focused on serving refugees. A refugee is eligible to receive a low-cost computer and training if he or she is receiving services from an organization helping refugees. Low-income participants must be receiving assistance from the state or federal government. Disabled people and seniors age 55 and over are also eligible as well as any non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization.
